I’ve got an inordinate amount of love for Uncommon Goods. There are very few products at their site that I don’t completely love. I don’t know how they do it, but everything they put on their site is just wonderful! For example, take this Bamboo Dry Erase Panel. You can get it with or without the hooks and cup, but both come with a hidden pocket for mail. It’s just like a standard dry erase board you might put in your kitchen, except it’s awesome!

Here’s a cute little coin back for the endlessly forgetful person. Not only is it a dish for keys and glasses, but it has a little slot for your change. A great design and a great idea.

The can contains one of each of the following items: non-aspirin pain reliever, adhesive bandage, alcohol prep pad, antibiotic ointment, book of matches, compass, chewing gum, sugar, salt, energy nugget, duct tape, fire starter cube, first aid instructions, fish hook & line, note paper, pencil, razor blade, safety pin, reflective signal surface, tea bag, waterproof bag, whistle, and wire clip. For only $12.99 the recipient gets a little piece of mind!

Here’s a great idea for Summer parties – if you have a backyard, that is. Smarthome has some translucent floating globes that you strategically place around your backyard. They change colors somewhat randomly, and are powered by solar energy (they recharge during the day, then automatically light up at night). Unfortunately, they are recommended for use in chlorinated water, but they’d look great on a pedastal, in a koi pond, or as a table centerpiece.

Here’s a great idea – the South American appliance company Consul has covered a few of their fridge models in the same stuff that makes dry erase boards do what they do. So you can write notes, doodle, create original refridgerator artwork, or do whatever your heart desires. Unfortunately, it isn’t available in the U.S. yet, but it’s only a matter of time!
