Wireless Weather Station Price: $60.88 Store: Amazon
Product Description: A great gadget for a boating or backpacking trip, this battery-powered wireless weather station displays all the pertinent information you’ll need and is about the size of a remote control. The adjustable contrast LCD is divided into five areas of information. At the very top of the screen, the time, date, calendar, and time zone (for the four U.S. time zones only) are displayed. A built-in antenna system receives signals from the WWVB radio transmitter in Fort Collins, Colorado, which is in turn is regulated by the atomic clock, to provide precise timekeeping. Once you install the battery, you can set the clock to one of twenty-five time zones, including all U.S. times zones and Greenwich Mean Time, and the device will automatically set to the accurate time. For practical purposes, the clock also has an alarm with an adjustable snooze time.
The screen also shows the local sunrise, sunset, moonrise, and moonset times, along with the current moon phase. The sun/moon features work for 45 U.S. settings and even allow you to check the statistics for other cities from your present location. An icon towards the bottom shows weather and air pressure trends. The remainder of the display is devoted to showing relative humidity and temperature in either Fahrenheit or Celsius for an indoor location and an outdoor area using the included remote sensor. The weather station also records the minimum and maximum temperatures within a 24-hour period and recalls them at your prompting. The sun/moon wireless weather station requires two AA batteries for the receiver and another two for the remote and a low-battery indicator on the receiver lets you know when they need replacing.
